Nothing Neutral About This Ladybug

The Jack may have erred last night when he attempted to explain the Elephant 6 sound by ways of a Neutral Milk Hotel namedrop. Though Mangum (not Magnum like I thought for years) may be the most recognizable artist from the bunch, his work hardly embodies the predominant aesthetics that connect the loose-knit collective.
In telling folks last night that tonight’s Ladybug Transistor show may be worth checking out due to their E6 heritage, I had explain why the E6 is interesting in the first place. So, I said, “Oh it’s a loose collective of bands that includes the Apples in Stereo, Olivia Tremor Control, Of Montreal and Neutral Milk Hotel.”
But I think my friends heard it like this “apples in stereo, olivia tremor control, of montreal and NEUTRAL MILK HOTEL.”
Worries abound that their expectations are built up now for raw wordplay emotions and a singing saw, when in fact they’re gonna just be taking in some cleverly competent sunshine pop.
